Bignold House: Fire Safety Upgrades for Historic Grade II Listed Building
In 2023, Coastal Construction UK Ltd engaged BCK Fire Sprinklers for the Smartscan Hydra Installation across 14 apartments in Bignold House. This project was essential due to the conversion of the historic Grade II listed building into apartments, coupled with its location, which posed challenges for fire engine access. Bignold House boasts a rich history, having been the home of the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society from 1797 to 1897.
Scope of Work:
The project involved the supply and installation of the Plumis® Smartcan Hydra fire suppression system. Each apartment, varying in layout, was fitted with 2 to 5 Smartcan Hydra heads. These heads were strategically placed to ensure comprehensive coverage in key areas such as kitchens, lounges, and bedrooms, providing residents with a safe escape route in the event of a fire. The Smartcan Hydra system is recognized for its advanced and reliable fire protection, adding an essential layer of safety for residents.
Project Completion:
BCK Fire Sprinklers successfully completed this project at the beginning of September 2023 and has been awarded the annual maintenance contract for the installed systems.
